A Love Lost

Description

I'm sure ya'll are getting sick of seeing all these manips XD but this one is actually for a contest! woo!

This is for :iconnoree-stock: and :iconlestat-original-one:'s "Dark Days" contest [link] to be specific. I feel kinda like I'm intruding, since I watch her boyfriend (I think? >.>;) but not her.. but oh well! we can fix that, eh?

so anyway - this piece. we were supposed to do some sort of mythical creature, right? So, this woman we see is a vampire, an immortal being. She fell in love with a mortal, however, and though they lived happily for a time he died as all must. However, she refuses to accept this and waits for him still, always hoping for her love to return. She doesn't realize what's happening around her, the way the world is crumbling and she herself fades away into darkness and nothingness while still waiting....

I'm rather proud of it, all considering. It's a different style from normal, and I like how it turned out. I also really like the simplicity, and the way light and dark balance out, the idea of love turning into something dangerous if you hold onto it for too long.. ^^

Another beautiful piece! I love the over-all sort of aged, worn look that your work often has, and the composition is phenomenal... However, I've got to waggle the accusing finger here.

Everything looks great, and the story behind it is beautiful, but the woman simply doesn't match the back ground. By now, I've seen enough of your work to know that you've got the blending down pat. I can tell that you've put some work into making her match, but the shading and lighting is still just a bit off, which still gives her that slightly cut and pasted look. I'm not trying to tear into you, by any means --lord knows I couldn't manipulate a photo to save my life-- but rather trying to do what I can to help. She's just a little bit too bright, maybe? Or perhaps it's just that she doesn't have that some worn look as the rest of the artwork.

Otherwise, beautiful piece. ^_^; Very few photo manips get my comments, and somehow most of them seem to be yours.
